Shoulder injections with autologous conditioned serum reduce pain and disability in glenohumeral osteoarthritis: longitudinal observational study

چکیده
Background Currently, non-surgical treatments for glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GH-OA) mainly aim to reduce pain. Autologous conditioned serum (ACS), Orthokine, an interleukin-1 inhibitor from the patient's own blood has anti-inflammatory effect. The objective was determine whether intra-articular injections of this ACS improved symptoms in patients with GH-OA and delayed need a shoulder replacement. Methods A total 36 consecutive patients, 40 shoulders, OA received up 6-weekly were included. Imaging GH-OA, range motion, visual analogue scale (VAS) pain, Shoulder Pain And Disability Index (SPADI), American Elbow Surgeons Constant scores assessed pre-injection post treatment at 3 months. At minimum 2 years, VAS SPADI anyone had progressed replacement recorded. Results Outcomes months post-ACS demonstrated on average statistically significant improvement (P < 0.05) all measurements: (54.3 ± 21.5 vs 43.7 23.7), score (50.5 14.1 57.1 17.4), pain (4.8 2.2 3.7 2.4) motion. Of these, 16 shoulders replacement, nine cases quickly (0.6 0.2 years) seven by 3.1 1.7 years. other 18 (58.0 19.6 31.8 21.4; P 0.01) no progression 3.6 1.0 years follow-up. There correlation glenoid Walch or joint space clinical outcome parameters. Conclusion can disability, postpone

Treatment of Osteoarthritis of the Knee with a Combination of Autologous Conditioned Serum and Physiotherapy: A Two-Year Observational Study
BACKGROUND Autologous conditioned serum (ACS) is an autologous blood product that has shown efficacy against knee osteoarthritis (OA) in randomized controlled trials. However, there are few reports of its effectiveness in everyday practice. Here, we report clinical efficacy results from a two-year prospective observational study of patients with highly symptomatic knee OA who received ACS in co...
متن کاملIntra-Articular Injections of Autologous Conditioned Serum to Treat Pain from Meniscal Lesions
Meniscal lesions, depending on their severity and location, sometimes heal spontaneously or may remain asymptomatic. Osteoarthritis (OA) is frequently associated with both symptomatic and asymptomatic meniscal defects [16]. Treatment of meniscal tears by surgical interventions, including resection, refixation/suturing, scaffold implants and allografts, is the clinical standard; however, there i...
متن کاملOsteoarthritis treatment using autologous conditioned serum after placebo
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Autologous conditioned serum (ACS) is a disease-modifying drug for treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and modest superiority over placebo was reported in an earlier randomized controlled trial (RCT). We hypothesized that when given the opportunity, placebo-treated patients from that RCT would now opt for ACS treatment, which would result in a greater clinical improvement t...
متن کاملThe Correlation of Supra Patella Effusion With Pain and Disability in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis
Objectives: The present research aimed to evaluate the relationship of supra patella effusion with pain and disability in patients with knee osteoarthritis by Ultrasonography (US). Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 60 patients with knee OA (Mean±SD score of body mass index: 29.81±5.64 kg/m2 and age: 50.48±7.57 years) were selected by nonprobability sampling method. Supra patella effusion wa...

Background: Frozen shoulder is resulting in limb disability and reduction of quality of life but the factors associated with patients’ disability and quality of life is not clear. To assess pain, disability, the quality of life and factors associated with them in patients suffering from frozen shoulder. Methods: We enrolled 120 patients (37 men and 83 women) with phase-II idiopathic frozen sh...
